Expect the unexpected. Sound advice in any form of life, but it’s one that applies particularly to parents of babies and toddlers.

Babies are full of surprises. They have so many quirks, behaviours and facial expressions that it’s hard to fully capture all their nuances on camera or on film. And they’re always growing, which means constant feeding, changing, health check-ups and buying new clothes and toys. Parents have their work cut out, that’s for sure.
All parents want the best for their children. They just want their offspring to be happy and healthy – whatever successes follow are a bonus.
And success can happen at a very early stage. Commercial modelling is one avenue that many parents explore, knowing that their babies are camera-friendly and at ease around strangers.

When parents have realistic aspirations about their baby and modelling, they won’t pursue them on a whim – or they shouldn’t at least. Parents must trust everyone that makes a booking happen, from the agency’s responsibilities, history and values, to the photographers who work on behalf of the clients / brands who’ve requested their preferred models.
Researching a little about commercial modelling is an obvious start, and parents should research agencies before applying. Most agencies are decent, hard-working professionals who put their models and clients at the forefront of their business, but it takes just one or two unethical ones for doubt to creep in. So, please contact any agencies you think your baby will fit in with. Phone them up or, better still, arrange a meeting with them.
Baby modelling is very competitive, so please don’t expect instant triumphs a few days after registering. We do have a vast number of brands who perennially look for their ideal baby models for an assortment of jobs, but that doesn’t mean that your baby will be picked instantly. Be patient, and keep sprucing up your baby’s own Models Direct portfolio, which you’ll have access to upon registration.

Though it sounds like an advertising slogan, babies are the future. And the future could look very bright indeed.
