We’re always proud to point out to our models (experienced or potential) that we’re a government regulated agency. Sounds open, honest and genuine, doesn’t it? It certainly does, because they are some of our core principles. But what exactly does “government regulated” mean?

In its simplest terms, we are regulated by employment law, as set out by the government. The law governs what employers can expect from employees, and what employers can ask employees to do. It also regulates the employee’s rights at work. Basically, the employment law looks after the relationship between employers and employees.
This sets us apart agencies that are not government regulated. It’s important to state clearly that our government does not operate any licensing authority for modelling employment agencies – that is just the UK government’s current stance. However, we are regulated by the employment legislation, which means we adhere to rules about how we operate. It’s this that sets apart from a handful of agencies that claim to be an “agency”, but sadly fall far short of that definition. Consider the following three points:
1. We have 35 years’ experience and have followed strict guidelines during those successful years.
2. We’re not a “showcase” agency making false promises.

3. We actively look for work for models and other talent on our books.
Now compare this to the points below, which sadly applies to unauthorized “employment agencies”:
1. Some modelling businesses do not readily seek work for those who have paid to be represented by them. This is not a smear – if you look closely, it may say this in the small print on their websites!

2. Companies that are not employment agencies cannot legally place models in work.
3. Some modelling agencies will charge a lot of money for photos, only for the snaps to be put on their books without any intention to use them. Sad, but true.
As the most trusted commercial modelling agency in the UK, we’re not shy about telling our models what we’re about and how we work. We’re equally honest about telling our models about realistic job expectations. Why wouldn’t we be?
As a company, Models Direct is open and honest, and we invite anyone to contact us at any time. To complement our transparency, we created a virtual tour of our office, so anyone interested in our business (or the commercial modelling world as a whole) who has any queries can make us their first port of call. More details can be found here: https://www.modelsdirect.co.uk/take-the-tour-of-models-direct/
We’ve made modelling and other talent applications as straightforward as possible. Take a look for yourself here, where you’ll find some our respected clients who rely on us (and you!) for their campaigns:

As a regulated agency, you can be assured of the following:
• We check the reputation and authenticity of our clients. After all, they are the wonderful people you’ll be working with!
• We negotiate the best fees – and we pay our models and talent within 5 working days!
• We’re always free to talk to any model, and to allay any concerns they might have. We’re only a phone call or email away – plus, we love to talk
Aside from our sociable and knowledgeable staff, our emphasis on model safety and our truly astonishing client list (https://www.modelsdirect.com/client-list), perhaps because we’re regulated by the government means we’ve managed to be the UK’s no.1 modelling agency for years, and the model’s favourite.
Just saying!
