What do David Gandy, Oliver Cheshire, and Edward Wilding all have in common? Yup, they’re all British male models.
Models Direct is reading your mind – you’ve landed on this page because you or someone you know is interested in this career path.
Yes? No? Maybe?
Whatever your answer might be, we’re delving into the world of male modelling because we like to cover all our modelling segments (and because male modelling deserves the spotlight!), and hopefully, you’ll get to know more about our work. So without further ado, let’s go!
Male modelling is and isn’t about defined cheekbones, chiselled jawlines and strong abs. Yes, all of the above-mentioned models have these features which are great for the camera and live modelling, particularly aimed at their target audience but what about the male population that doesn’t? And what are their chances of becoming a male model if they don’t possess these typical supermodel features?
This is where our modelling agency, Models Direct, steps in. We’ve been working across villages, towns and cities in the UK, connecting everyday people with clients across all the industries you can think of. Check out our client history here.
Our mission has been to transform modelling agencies’ reputations by giving people easier access to this industry. We don’t expect six packs and strong features from our young or mature male models. We just expect you to bring your authentic self to the forefront and fulfil a few things along your way with us. These are:
An updated portfolio with diverse photos of yourself demonstrating your looks, styles, expressions and poses for the benefit of our clients
A showreel once you hit the ground running with bookings for clients to see
Your characteristics (height, weight, shoe size)
Communication with our team if you need support, guidance or an update on your progress
The freedom of being able to create modelling content in a personalised way, and submitting your measurements makes it appealing to be on our team. We give all our male models space, but add in gentle reminders to keep the content rolling so that their modelling application continues to stand out for clients.
Many of our teen male models moving into adulthood also choose to stay on with us and adult male models. We’re pleased that they’re happy with our agency and the variety of work they’re contacted for. This could be promoting products and services live on TV, or lifestyle modelling for a start-up, young enterprise or industry giant.
Our modelling agency also gives our models the choice to choose if they’d like to go ahead with a booking or not. After all, no one wants to feel trapped and obligated to do something they don’t wish to.
We understand that our models have other commitments and sometimes things happen and it’s challenging to work around a gig. And that’s okay. That certainly doesn’t mean that they’ll never be considered for future opportunities because they declined a previous job.
Here! Student Living, a company aimed at placing further education students in high-quality accommodation residences, hired our male model, Pranay for their marketing.
He shared this in-depth feedback with us. It’s just one example of a testimonial. We receive many which you can read more about here.
“I loved this experience with them as a starting out model.
1. Do NOT worry about the admin fee. That’s normal and requires capital for them to market you well to brands.
2. The first few months WILL be slow. But, when your portfolio does spark interest – it will maintain that! I got 2 shoots within 5 days after 4 months of waiting. It really is that random, but with a great selection of pictures and a good work ethic: you can definitely fasten this process.
The people are really good – I’ve worked with Charlie and Gemma so far, and they’ve always been there to help and guide me through the process.
Overall, definitely worth a shot if you get selected by them!”
