The Models Direct team are very excited the warmer weather is now well and truly here and there’s nothing better than relaxing in the sun with a refreshing drink…

The drinks available on the market however can often be full of sugar and may not be as good for you as you may think, so we have come up with some healthy, home-made, summer drink recipes for you to enjoy!

For those of us who are models, as well as those with children in child modelling or partners who are male and female models, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is vital.

Ensuring we include a rainbow of fruit and vegetables in our diets, and that we are well hydrated and full of energy, is essential for our skin, our bodies and our general well-being.

So, what better than to sip our way towards healthier living with a delicious summer drink?

Here are a few ideas:

*Fresh Lemonade

  • Six lemons
  • Three cups of white grape juice
  • Six cups of water
  • A couple of handfuls of ice

Method:

Squeeze your lemons. Then either whiz the juice with all your other ingredients in a blender for a slushier drink or stir the liquids in together and pour into a glass over ice.

*Strawberry Mojito Mocktail

Ingredients:

  • A punnet of strawberries
  • 1 lime
  • 1 orange
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • 500ml of sparkling spring water

*Herb Iced Tea

Ingredients:

  • Three tea bags
  • Three lemons
  • One green apple
  • 1 cup of apple juice
  • 6 cups of water
  • 5 sprigs of fresh thyme or lemon mint
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Method:

Squeeze two of your lemons, grate their zest and gently heat the juice in a large pan, together with the zest, apple juice, water, herbs and cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil then remove from the heat. Add your tea bags and leave them to soak for about 10 to 15 minutes. Squeeze the teabags, remove from the liquid and cover your pan and leave to cool. Strain your cooled liquid into a jug and place in the fridge to chill. Serve with ice and slices of your last fresh lemon and green apple.
