In recent times there have been more and more opportunities for older models to become involved in the industry, taking on fashion, commercial and all sorts of other assignments. Models Direct have been finding work for mature models for years and have included a few of their assignment experinces in this blog.
So, what makes the work so appealing to older male models and female models?
Here are five of the things mature models enjoy about their work:
- Experiencing something new
You are never too old to start something new and to enjoy the buzz it can bring into your life. Learning new skills, spending your time trying out something completely different and finding yourself in a variety of diverse environments can boost your mood and give you a whole new lease of life. For mature models, this can come at a time when they are either semi-retired or retired from work or perhaps their children have flown the nest. Many find that trying something new, such as modelling, can be just the experience they have been looking for.
- Keeping active
We all know how important it is to keep busy and active as we grow older – and as well as exercising and indulging in hobbies, this can include finding new types of work. For those who are starting to work less, having to leave the house to attend bookings can mean they are perhaps walking, cycling or just generally being more physically active than they might otherwise have been.
- Earning money
One of the great attractions to modelling is that people can do it to varying degrees. Many models, including some mature models, obviously make a full-time career from in, while others like to do it part-time or just dip into it every now and again. It can therefore end up being quite lucrative for some in terms of bringing in a regular income, while for others it can mean an extra lump of money here and there towards that holiday or other special treat.
- Social interaction
Those who are already in the business know that modelling is a great way to meet different people from all walks of life. Not only are you likely to be spending time with people of your own age, but quite possibly also meeting many people of other ages too. Having different conversations, learning about people’s work and families, and telling them about yourself can be an invigorating and exciting experience.
- Having fun
Modelling is hard work, but it can also be great fun – and that is perhaps what is most important of all. Mature models often come back from assignments to tell us just how much they have enjoyed the whole experience – and many ask us for future assignments for the very reason that it brings a smile to their face.
