Is Your Child Ready for Modelling? 6 Signs to Look For

Are we looking for signs to give us a guided answer for life-altering decisions? Sounds quite dramatic – we know! However, some of us reading this blog might relate to the seeking signs method when we’re thinking about our child and their future.

No, it’s not weird to be fishing out signs. It’s totally relatable and speaking from experience, Models Direct has been down this path plenty of times. This time it’s different though because we’re covering this topic again – signs your child might be ready for the child modelling spotlight – but with a fresh pair of eyes. So, questions to ask yourself could include:

1.      Are they confident in themselves?

Are they happy and content with themselves? Of course, children’s emotions can fluctuate quite rapidly but on the whole, are they upbeat? If yes – perfect.

2.      Do they enjoy being around new people?

Does your potential child model star thrive being surrounded by new faces, and enjoy their time talking to others? Yes? Great!

3.      Are they comfortable in busy, new places?

No two modelling jobs are the same which means your little one could be booked to travel in any part of the UK (if you agree to this, no doubt) or internationally. If they’re comfortable to be in a new place, busy or not, then super.

4.      Are they okay to move away from their usual routine?

It can be a challenge to move out of a routine and back into it again. Is your child adaptable and open to some change in their daily routine? Are they happy to try it out? If yes, then you’re moving closer to your child potentially being ready for the spotlight.

5.      Are they open to following directions from someone?

A part of modelling is about being attentive and listening to instructions well. After all, models need to be guided as to what their role will entail and follow instructions from industry professionals.

6.      Are they comfortable travelling?

Some children feel travel sick, so it might be a challenge if yours feels unwell travelling. Although you can decline modelling assignments which might be too far, you can pick ones that suit your child’s needs.

If your child, aged 2 to 12, fits most of these boxes mentioned, then your child is closer to the spotlight. Have a read of some of our child reviews right here to see what their parents and guardians have had to say:

Child model, Monroe [CGFF-7787], had an excellent time on her recent photoshoot and this wonderful feedback explains all:

“Monroe had a great time at her photo shoot. She was a bit shy to begin with, but the team put her at ease and soon enough she was relaxed and enjoying the shoot. She loved the outfits she wore and was over the moon to be given some clothes to take home. The snacks were delicious too!”

Whilst Archie’s parent said this about his first assignment:

“This was my son’s first modelling assignment, we were prepared well before the shoot on where to go, what to bring and what he’d be doing. He was a little nervous to begin with but everyone was very friendly and welcoming.”
