A guide to becoming a commercial model

Have you ever given serious thought to becoming a model?

A lot of people have, understandably.

Modelling is a fantastic job – one where models are not confined to the depths of an office, and largely have the freedom to succeed. There are timeframes and deadlines, of course, but that applies to most work.

Modelling is highly desirable, and models are highly desired…but what does being a model mean, and how can you become one?

First things first. The key to answering those two questions is to differentiate between fashion modelling and commercial modelling.

Fashion models appear on catwalks and in glossy high-end publications. Some of them are well-known. They usually model the season’s trends and the latest accessories. Some are well-paid, and ambassadors of a particular brand. Indeed, some are celebrities in their own right.

That’s fine, and we salute fashion models. However, commercial modelling is a different genre of modelling, and models should not confuse the two. Commercial modelling is more about appearing in shoots or films for a business or similar campaign. There are no catwalks. Examples include retail giants asking us to provide a model acting as a member of staff to advertise their latest promotion. Another example is well-known law firms needing commercial models to appeal to their customers in a photo shoot, to appear on their website and social media posts. These are extremely important to businesses of all sizes: without customer interaction they wouldn’t have a business, so they know that real-life models are the best way to promote what they have to offer.

And this is where we come into play. As the UK’s largest commercial modelling employment agency, we’ve been providing the best models for top brands across the country to help them achieve the best campaigns and to get through to customers, driving revenue and awareness and making them more productive.

But commercial models aren’t just picked up off the street by scouts, so where do brand acquire them? From reputable agencies like us, that’s where.

Without joining a decent employment agency like us, the chances of being noticed by brands are slim to negligible. We’re the first step for thousands of would-be models being seen by the decision-makers – our clients who need them. They trust us to put forward the right models, depending on vital statistics like age and gender. We recommend any type of commercial model, but they must be registered with us for them to be recommended to our clients.

We began with several clients in 1990, and we’ve grown over the years to work with thousands of top-notch brands, each with their own agendas and requirements. By providing them with the right commercial models, they know their marketing campaigns always deliver.

If you’ve dreamed of becoming a commercial model, please fill out your registration with us. Our booking team will then have a look and contact you with the next step.

Before long, you could be joining the huge amount of successful models that have enjoyed working with us and our clients. Happy days!
