How to get your baby started in modelling – a step-by-step guide…

You know your bouncing baby boy or gorgeous, giggling girl is beautiful – and you want to show them to the world!

So why not put them forward for baby modelling?

As one of the country’s leading modelling agencies, Models Direct is a great place to begin.

This is our step-by-step guide to getting started:

1 Take a great set of baby photos for us to see. These don’t have to be professionally taken but they do need to be lit and framed well. You need to ensure they are in sharp focus and that we can see the whole of your little one’s face. Try to make them smile or laugh. We would love to see that cheeky grin and those sparkly eyes. Do not put the images through any filters afterwards and be careful not to compress or reduce them in size when you save them.

2 Fill in our online form. Tell us all about your baby, including their age, size, weight and hair colour. Our clients request babies of all ages, sizes and skin and hair colours for their campaigns and advertisements. They want to reflect the world out there as it really is – made up of people of all backgrounds and looks.

3 Take a pen and paper and write down all the questions you would like to ask us – the types of assignments our baby models take part in; what a typical booking might involve and how much they are likely to be paid. One of our professional agents will call you to explain more about working with us and you can ask them anything you like.

4 If you decide to continue the process of joining us and your baby is successful in their application, they will be given a secure e-portfolio. This is an online portal that you will manage on their behalf. You should update regularly with recent pictures and any new information as this is what we look at when we are shortlisting suitable baby models for our clients. It is also what they look at when they make their final choice. Your baby is more likely to be selected for modelling work if we can see you have uploaded recent pictures. This is because your bundle of joy will grow and change so quickly!

5 If your baby is selected for a job, your point of contact at Models Direct will call you to explain more about the assignment and you can decide whether to accept. You will be expected to accompany your little one to the job and to care of him or her throughout the booking.

6 On the day itself, you will be told when your baby will be required and where you need to take them. You will also be given information on where they can rest and where you can feed and change them. The photographer, crew and general team members will be experienced at looking after models and working with babies.

7 Once the modelling job has been completed, our agent will contact you to find out how it went. They will also ensure you are paid promptly. You can also give us feedback so others can learn more about what working with Models Direct is like.

Baby modelling can be as much fun for the parents as for the little ones.

Little Ellison took part in a training video for Tesco. Afterwards, his mum told us:

“Ellison is only eight months old so couldn’t say in his own words but I could tell he had a really good day.

“The actors and director were really nice with him and got through all the scenes needed.

“This was a first for Ellison and myself and the whole day was enjoyable and seeing him being a good boy while filming made me smile.”

While gorgeous Gracie was a star for British Lion:

“Gracie had a lovely day doing a photo shoot for British Lion eggs!

“She was smiling and giggling for the camera all day.

“Considering this was her first time, everyone on the job said she was a natural.

“Thank you Models Direct!

“We really enjoyed the day and can’t wait to do another.
