There is no doubt about it – 40 is the new 30…or maybe even 20?!

Whichever way you look at it, most of those in their upper decades would tell you they feel and look younger at their age than their parents and grandparents did!

These days there is much more of an emphasis on health and wellbeing.

The more we learn about looking after ourselves, the more we try to keep fitter for longer by considering our lifestyle habits.

We try to eat well, exercise more and ditch bad habits, such as smoking or over-indulging in alcohol.

Furthermore, fashion is much more of an intrinsic part of life for those over the age of 40.

Major brands and labels create collections that are suitable for older consumers, focusing on making them look good while embodying an air of youthfulness.

And all of this is exactly why modelling over the age of 40 is a growing trend.

Over the 35 years or so that it has been operating, Models Direct has seen a seismic shift towards mature modelling.

Most of us are not prepared to compromise and slide gently into wearing loose-fitting dresses or trousers with elasticated waists – no we want outfits with great cuts and flattering styles!

Furthermore, we want to buy nice shoes, great cosmetics and attractive household items – and we want to dine out, go to the cinema and take holidays!

If advertisers want people over the age of 40 to keep splashing out on these things, they have to keep tempting us by showing us people of our age enjoying their products and having fun.

And therefore the need for male and female models over 40 just keeps growing.
