Toddler and teenager models differ from child models purely because of age. All three age ranges continue to be some of the most sought after by our well-known clients, but they usually appeal to specific clients, and therefore specific audiences.

Obviously, toddlers and babies are essential in any advertising campaign that promotes baby products – including large retailers. But they can be pivotal in family modelling, too, and also in magazines and on TV.
Teenager models also feature in family modelling, and they are highly desirable to general fashion outlets, entertainment brands, hospitality and higher education institutions.
So, where does child modelling fit into the commercial modelling hierarchy?
Well, child models are generally in the 2 years – 12 years old bracket. They are too old for certain projects and too young for other assignments. Does that make them any less important? Do our clients need them less frequently?
Of course not, because there are essential for many assignments – all of which are organised by our brands, and we know from years of experience that the 2 – 12-year-old group is very popular. That’s why we’re appealing to even more parents / guardians who think their children will shine on modelling assignments with us.
Children are always growing – both physically and in character. They can express different emotions almost without acting, so they are highly desirable for a number of top brands.
And it’s not just the “cute factor” that appeals. Certainly, a child model that melts the hearts of consumers is a big plus, but that’s just scratching the surface of child modelling.

Child models have always been held in high regard with numerous brands, and their qualities are evident in all forms of media. They are needed for the following examples:
- Department stores advertising their latest range of seasonal fashion collections. When marketed to the correct audience, only child models will do!
- To pose wearing school wear. This is a great example, as most children attend some sort of educational establishment, and they usually need at least two sizes of uniform or sportswear during their education.
- Mail order clothing brands. Again, the age range dictates that children are the only models these clients will want.
- National and global fashion shows. We’ve emphasised several times we’re a modelling employment agency dedicated to “real” commercial models, but we do get asked for models for fashion show work, and children can be involved.
- General parent-and child assignments. These are not “generic”. They are more a common modelling request from many clients asking for two models: one older, one younger. The job could be for any brand for any audience, and therefore very common for us to be asked for child models.

There are many benefits of being a Models Direct model, but to highlight those specifically for child models we’ll name these:
- We have the most clients on our books of any UK modelling agency, so the chances of being hired by them is greater than registering with any other agency.
- Commercial modelling is very enjoyable and relaxed. Yes, it’s work, but it usually doesn’t feel like it.
- We advocate chaperones to anyone of any age, so child modelling requires a parent accompanying anyone under the age of 18. The professionals on shoot always look out for their models (hence our top rated child modelling reviews), so welfare and safety is paramount on Models Direct job.
- Interacting with adults on set is a great way for children to learn, develop and experience different conditions.
- Obviously, all our models get paid. By earning money, children can learn the delights of working in a stress-free atmosphere and being rewarded for it.
As we grow even more, our models have even more importance. The talent from 2 – 12 years of age is crucial to our clients and us.
