Summer Trends for Men: Stepping into Male Modelling

We’re taking on summer and ready to be out there experiencing life like it once was. We know it won’t be the same but we will certainly make the most of what we can…

What better way to do that than to explore summer fashion trends for men. Since we always have tips and tricks for our female models, we thought it was high time we’d mirror the same for our male readers who may be looking into breaking into the fashion industry as male models during this summer period.

Before we dive in, Models Direct wanted to express that trends come and go, and as fleeting as they are, it can be difficult (not to mention expensive) to keep up with the time-sensitive fashion movements. In our opinion, looking out for future classics rather than the swift showstoppers is probably a rather good idea.

So without further ado, let’s explore which menswear trends are worth incorporating into your wardrobe in 2021.

Florals

A blast from the past is bringing the return of floral prints back into the men’s fashion scene and showing no sign of stopping in 2021. For this year’s warmer seasons, floral prints are a lot more wearable and on trend than we probably once thought.

Burberry and Tom Ford campaigns have been showing us how it’s done with prints on shirts and shorts but as a tip, we’d say keep it to one statement piece per outfit where surrounding apparel is better muted than bold.

Shorts

Longer, wider shorts are coming back into our realm of fashion trends where getting the length just right is the key to a hit or miss statement piece. If you’re looking to show your legs off and want to pull off a great summer look, then aim for a couple of inches above the top of the kneecap. This can be paired with a casual t-shirt or a shirt and blazer for a smarter look – the choice is yours…

Vertical Stripes

You can’t go wrong with stripes, the benefits are twofold. First off, they give a simple and refined look and secondly, they give the illusion of a slimmer, taller appearance (now, who wouldn’t want that?!) This is a classic look that will probably be around for a long time, so adapt your additional apparel to match the current trend.

Right now, we’re going through a more relaxed fashion phase so it might be an idea to incorporate that looser look into your wardrobe too. You can check brands such as Reiss and Ted Baker for stripy inspiration.

All white outfit

Creating this look can be a tricky one but not impossible. The all white outfit is making menswear look super smart, chilled and summer ready. It’s a great move to keep cool when the sun’s rays beam down on us so an added bonus. If you want a more muted look, you can incorporate an overshirt into the mix which exudes colour and brightness.

Enjoy matching these trends and let us know how you get on. Take snaps, send them across to us with your application if you’re looking to add “model” to your CV.
