A lot of people wonder if family modelling is like being on holiday, with a cheque at the end. Well, if they were all like that, every family in the country would apply to every modelling employment agency in the country.

We’d like to say that all our modelling families travel to exotic locations or stay in five-star hotels, but that would be insincere. A lot of family assignments are for holiday / leisure companies, which means the on-site experience does feel like our models are on holiday. But, of course, they’re not all like that. With such an extensive client list, we have to cater for all types of brands and sectors, like retail or councils, so some family jobs are not quite as exotic as jetting off to sunny climes.
That said, we have placed families working with luxury villas in France, and we have put forward families that have been chosen to act as guests at holiday resorts. It’s probably true that there’s more scope for the exotic when it comes to modelling families – and families do often receive a larger pay cheque due to the average number of models involved.
A “typical” family assignment might involve working with companies that attract customers on weekend breaks, city attractions or if a brand is promoting a family offer, e.g. supermarkets or restaurant chains.

A decent example is a trio of families asked to pose as customers at London’s Paddington Bear Experience. Like any commercial models, families must reflect what the brand is trying to promote, and often only families can convey the realistic, unbridled joy of having fun together.
Working on set in a family assignment is a mixture of following directions and behaving naturally (and that means acting as you do daily as a family). All our clients treat safety as a priority, and you’ll certainly be looked after well by the professionals you work with.

You’ll be met by a representative of the clients you’re working for or the photographer, and you’ll be made to feel comfortable. If you’re not at ease as a collective, the assignment won’t be a success.
You may have to perform specific poses, although many family jobs insist on behaving as naturally as possible.

The key word is “fun”. Everyone on the assignment is working towards the same goal, and that means capturing a wonderful family experience to share with customers old and new on websites, social media and in print.
If family modelling is what you’ve had your eye on for some time, the only reliable way to be seen by the people that matter is to join a reputable modelling employment agency. We look forward to seeing your bright, proactive, smiling family application!
