Models who are represented by a modelling agency have a significantly greater chance of success. This is something that we know, that our clients know, and that our registered models know.

But that agency must be a genuine one, which actively looks for work for the most suitable talent. There are several agencies who might claim to represent models, when they only have the merest inclination of putting talented individuals with the right companies looking for models. Some agencies don’t even have any intention of seeking work for their models, instead charging for professional photos and keeping them in a portfolio. Not the best start for a model’s career…
Employment agencies seek work for their models. This is the key difference between “representation” and being on an agency’s books. Offering expensive photoshoots is no way for an agency to “represent” their models.
There are decent agencies though; we’re not the only genuine modelling employment agency in the UK. But we do have the most trusted clients, and that’s one of the reasons why we attract the wealth of talent we do. The number of loyal brands we work with in turn means that the amount of available jobs increases, so it’s a win-win situation all round.

“Representation” means acting or working on behalf of someone else – in our case, that someone else are our models when they’ve registered with us. We can never promise that all our represented models will be offered work straight after joining us; that would be dishonest and totally unrealistic. Modelling can be a cutthroat business, but once models have had a taste of success, it’s an incredible way of growing, gaining more contacts, having fun, and earning more money.
The reason why modelling is competitive is easy to understand: we have the backing of thousands of top-notch clients, which attracts gifted people from all around the country. Competition is high, but that shouldn’t put off newcomers. Modelling is one of the few jobs where experience doesn’t matter. Having representation by a sincere modelling employment agency remains the quickest and most effective way of being put forward to those that make the all-important decisions – i.e. the clients looking for models. Without representation, models have slim chances of being seen.
All our job opportunities come to us directly from our clients. It’s a massive advantage to models to be recommended by us based on their looks, how well they fit the job spec, and on the strength of their up-to-date portfolio. Our team see hundreds of real jobs every week, and we’re experts at recommending the best ones for each. We do this to meet our client’s timescales, so the brands we work with put their trust in us to deliver the right models every time.

At its fundamental core, representation is about giving real people the chance to succeed by placing them in top jobs with the right brands. That’s been our goal since we started Models Direct in 1990 and, apart from increasing our operations and reputation, hardly anything has changed.
We’re excited about representing even more models and helping even more brands in the quest for the best modelling talent out there.
