As COVID-19 continues to spread across the world, Models Direct understand that times are changing. Now that most of us will be staying indoors to protect others and ourselves, we’ll have a lot more time on our hands. Maybe it’s time to dedicate some much-deserved me-time and focus on creating a positive environment that promotes inner peace, calm and tranquillity.

Models Direct agree that relaxing is a necessity. What better way to start a journey of solitude than to pamper your skin! We thought these awesome DIY masks, using some of your loved ingredients already stocked in your cupboard, would get your creative juices flowing. Get reading and maybe you’ll be concocting a formulation tonight!

1, Oily skin; help absorb excess oil

Here’s a super easy face mask which won’t draw out all your skin’s oils leaving it feeling parched. For any teen models or models in general who have oily skin will know that when getting ready for an assignment the last thing they want is oil-drenched skin for the cameras to pick up. These natural ingredients will help your skin feeling calm, hydrated, smooth and most of all oil-free so let’s go!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons fresh aloe (alternatively a pinch of aloe vera gel)

Yes, that’s it! We know the thought of putting raw egg on your face doesn’t sound appealing (that’s if you haven’t tried it before) but using egg is great for your skin. It contains a natural antibacterial that can absorb excess oil and prevent clogged pores. Unless you’re allergic to eggs, this mask is one to try! Mix the two ingredients, apply on to your face, set your mobile’s timer for 10 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water.

2, Dry skin? Here’s a delicious mask to save the day

When you’ve got dry skin, you’ll know that specially formulated products will contain some heavy ingredients which could lead to pore-clogging (which is a total nuisance). This super simple mask is a perfect treat for your skin!

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 avocado (mashed)
  • 1 tablespoon honey

This sweet recipe bursts full of fatty acids derived from the avocado, which helps soothe and moisturise your dry skin. The honey acts as a natural hydrator which is great for dry skin. Just mash and mix the two, spread all over your face and then be ready to wash off after 10 minutes (or more if you’d like!)

Bonus tip: if you have any leftover mixture, you can eat it! Yum!

3, Say goodbye to inflammation

If you have unwanted inflamed skin that decides to pop out of nowhere, here’s a great natural face mask you can prepare when a flare-up rears its ugly head.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons fresh aloe (alternatively a pinch of aloe vera gel will do just as well)
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder – we’re sure you’ll have this in your tea cupboard!

For anyone out there who experiences that nuisance skin condition – rosacea – aloe vera is a great remedy for cooling the skin. Matcha powder is believed to have beneficial anti-inflammatory and redness-reducing properties so mix ’em up and apply gently to your face. Wash off with TLC and moisturise your skin with kind, natural ingredients afterwards.

Try these masks out and get your skin ready for a fabulous regime that you can keep up once or twice a week. If you’re not a model yet, these remedies are great to get you ready for your application snaps when registering with Models Direct. And for current models – you’ll love the benefits, we’re sure.
